On this hot meat sandwich of a Shut Up & Sit Down Podcast, Tom and Matt are running through a selection of the games they played at PAX Unplugged!

First up are some excitable impressions of the latest from Leder Games: Arcs! That’s followed up with a double bill of Grandpa Beck games – the raucously silly Cover Your Assets and Skull King – which in turn is followed by ANOTHER double bill of mushroom-themed boxes with Mycelia and Mycelium: A Mushling Game. Finally, we get to the real good stuff, where Tom and Matt wax lyrical about Strike; a ridiculously simple dice-chucking game that we simply couldn’t get enough of.

This is the first in a double, potentially TRIPLE feature of PAX Unplugged games! Next time, we’re tackling the big crunchy boxes that melted our brains…

Today’s video is a sequel! Quinns’ Crokinole review just hit 1 million views, which is twice as many people as live in the whole of Canada.

In honour of those Canadians (or possibly disrespecting them?), we set out to answer a question: Is there another expensive wooden game out there that’s just as good?

A dexterity dice game consisting of four sets of colored dice one either slides, rolls, or flicks down a stepped surface. Usually one slides the die for better accuracy. After each person has slid their 4 dice, points are scored. You score the die roll times a multiplier of either 1×, 2×, 3×, or 4× depending on which area of the board the die is on. (Dice which land in the 0× region are immediately removed from play.) High scoring rolls are targets for opponents. Four rounds are played and the player with the most points win.

Split up into two clans et prepare to face your rivals in the purest of Western traditions!

Flick’em Up is a surprising dexterity game for 2 to 10 players. Will you join the Sheriff and his gang or will you be part of the fearsome Cooper clan?
