You need a passport! Yes, even from the US most border crossings now require a valid (not expired) passport.
Please be aware of the COVID-19 requirements for entering Canada from your country or location: https://travel.gc.ca/travel-covid
If you are flying from outside of North America or on a non-American/non-Canadian passport you also need an eTA which costs $7CAD. While this is in many cases included with your airline ticket it is worth double-checking that you have one before flying. The application typically takes only a few minutes.
Did you know that over 2/3 of SHUX attendees travel in from outside of Canada? Most of them come up from the USofA, so for their convenience tickets are offered in both US and Canadian Dollars.
You can expect games and products to be priced and sold in Canadian Dollars at the show itself.
The Registration line is inside the event space at the Vancouver Convention Centre East Building, Hall B.
Thursday pre-registration times: 2:00 PM - 8:00 PM
During show hours: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM.
Pre-registration is subject to change due to volunteer numbers, please check back for updated times closer to the show.
Yes! You can apply to become a "Pearagon" by reaching out to us at this email address.
SHUX is run with the help of our very lovely volunteers and staff called "Pearagons."
You can find them in the orange shirts throughout the event, please don't hesitate to ask for their help or say hi!
You can apply to become a "Pearagon" by reaching out to us at this email address.
There is no sign up or registration for SHUX events and panels in the theatre. The theatre will be cleared following all panels and events. Attendees can line up for a panel as soon as the previous panel has started. For example, if panel start times are 1:30, 3:00 and 4:30; you can line up for the 3:00 panel starting at 1:30 and you can line up for the 4:30 panel starting at 3:00.
The Event Room is also first come, first served, so please plan accordingly.
For Blood on the Clocktower, there will be games running all day. Stop by their space and to book yourself a time for a game.
Yes! Trade games with other attendees through our math trade: https://shuxshow.com/mathtrade
A math trade is a fancy term for a swap. Offer the games that you want to trade away and, if someone wants them, you will get games from your wish list. If no one has what you want, your games won’t trade. Simple as that! All the work of figuring out who gives which games to whom is figured out in advance and then everyone meets at SHUX to do the exchange. Last show over 2,150 games were involved in the trade!
We have a large lending library of games for you to try if you don’t, but if you have your heart set on a very specific game you might be best to bring it yourself! There will be lots of people there excited to play it with you.
This year there sure is! We'll have a large expo hall with over 50 booths, and an Indie Avenue featuring different independent designers each day of the show.
You can find the details about who and where here.
Also we are beyond delighted the Alexandria RPG Library will be back at SHUX and they'll be planning RPGs through Warhorn: link coming shortly!
The "Looking For Group" Lounge is a place to meet new friends and quickly find a new group or game. Or you can grab a flag for your table indicating you need more players to pull-in wanderers! This year the LFG Lounge will also feature many dexterity games that you can drop in and play while waiting to start your next game or if you just want to stand up and stretch your muscle!
Babies under 2 years old are welcome and free to attend, but unfortunately we can’t offer any specialist childcare facilities on-site. Please be cognizant and respectful of the enjoyment and needs of attendees who choose to bring babies or small children.
Children under the age of 10 can also attend for free, however they will need to wear a badge and be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times. We do not have any specialist childcare facilities on-site. To request a badge for your child aged 2-10 please email us with your full name, the transaction number of your purchased ticket, and the full name of your child. You will also be required to bring valid proof of age with you to registration at SHUX for badge pickup (a photocopy of their birth certificate, health card or passport is acceptable).
Yes, there is free WiFi in the Vancouver Convention Centre public areas [located in the Coal Harbour Cafés (and surrounding area) in both the East and West buildings, as well as the Burrard Street entrance lobby.] which may be accessible from some areas of SHUX. We are also looking into show WiFi, but the costs may be prohibitive. There will be a lot of people accessing these services, so we cannot guarantee dependable WiFi, 3G/4G, or mobile service.
Yes! SHUX and the Vancouver Convention Centre and surrounding facilities are fully wheelchair and mobility-scooter accessible. We also have designated wheelchair areas in our theatre and maintain 10 foot aisles throughout the exhibitor hall and venue.
If you have any specialized concerns or questions please contact us, or ask a Pearagon in an orange shirt for help at the show.
Find our Conduct and Anti-Harassment Policy here. We will be implementing several new initiatives this year that we hope will make our event even more safe and enjoyable. Please ask for more information at the "Info Booth" or talk to any of our volunteers/"Pearagons."
No. There will be concessions in Hall B.
You are a very cool person! Make sure you read our Conduct and Anti-Harassment Policy here. And just be as friendly and awesome as you can be to everyone around you at the show! If you have some spare time why not wander over to the LFG Lounge and offer to teach someone a game they haven’t played before?
Yes, there is an Indie Avenue where we will rotate indie publishers who are prototyping, demoing, and selling their games. Please email us for more details!
